Jaycee Dugard : case Hayward dublin police are searching Garrido property in regards to Michaela Garecht case
Garecht was snatched from outside a Hayward grocery store in 1988.
Dublin police also are involved, searching for links to Ilene Misheloff, who was 13 when she was abducted in 1989 in Dublin.
"Each agency has its own focus — we're looking for specific things," Hayward police Lt. Christine Orrey said. Officers are looking for specific items that El Dorado County authorities were not interested in.

Jaycee Dugard case : Inmates Threatening Nancy Garrido, early show video Garrido's life behind bars
Garrido and her husband, Phillip, are accused of kidnapping 11-year-old Jaycee Dugard in 1991 and holding her captive for 18 years in the backyard of their Antioch, Calif. home.
They're charged with 29 felonies, including kidnapping, rape and false imprisonment and are slated for a court appearance Monday.
It should be brief, according to CBS News Correspondent John Blackstone, who says the judge is likely to set a date for the preliminary hearing.
Defense attorneys for the Garridos are expected to ask for bail, but analysts it's unlikely bail will be granted, since Phillip Garrido is charged with committing crimes against Jaycee while he was on parole.
And CBS News has learned Phillip Garrido is also being kept in isolation.
Nancy Garrido is "every bit as culpable for all of the crimes that he's been charged with, in every bit the same way," assuming they're convicted, points out CBS News Legal Analyst Trent Copeland.

The recent discovery of Jaycee Lee Dugard, who was 11 years old when she was kidnapped in South Lake Tahoe in 1991, evokes memories of a child abducted under similar circumstances in Half Moon Bay 36 years ago.
Five-year-old Anna Waters wandered out onto her parents̢۪ back porch after school while her mom made soup in the kitchen on a rainy day in January of 1973. Then she disappeared without a trace.

Dugard’s former classmates, teachers and neighbors came wearing what was her favorite color, pink, and toting hand-made signs reading, “We Love You Jaycee.”
Members of the local Soroptimist Club sold pink T-shirts and cupcakes at the end of the parade route next to South Lake Tahoe Middle School to benefit Dugard and the two daughters, 11 and 15, whom police say were fathered by Dugard's alleged captor, Phillip Garrido.
“We were all hoping she would come back alive -- she’s one of our people,” said Meghan Dorris, 28, Dugard’s former classmate at Meyers Elementary School. “We’re just really grateful and hoping she can recover.”

Jaycee Dugard case : Garrido's mental state likely to be issue at trial
The registered sex offender and parolee hand-delivered to the FBI's San Francisco office on Aug. 24 a screed declaring that the voices he heard came from God. The next day, he took the two daughters he had with his alleged kidnap victim to the University of California, Berkeley, where he blurted out to already suspicious campus police officers that he was a convicted rapist.
Most curiously, he showed up at his parole agent's office the day he wound up in custody with his manufactured family in tow — the two daughters, his wife and a 29-year-old woman who would be revealed as Jaycee Dugard, the girl Garrido admitted abducting in 1991 from a South Lake Tahoe bus stop.
Whether rooted in bravado, mental illness or both, his actions in the years, days and hours before his secret life was exposed raise questions about whether he subconsciously wanted to be caught. And experts say his behavior is likely to become relevant as prosecutors prepare to try Garrido and law enforcements agencies explore possible connections to unsolved sex crimes.

RIVERSIDE Terry Probyn took a brush to her daughter's blond hair and slowly combed through it – a tender ritual she had not performed in 18 years, when her girl, Jaycee Lee Dugard, was just 11.
Reunited with Jaycee last week in Northern California, Probyn got to play mother again to the girl who was snatched away from her – touching her hair, kissing her face, delighting at the sound of her voice.
Tina Dugard, Terry's sister and Jaycee's aunt, sat and watched – disbelief mingled with joy.
"I remember thinking, 'Wow, she's French-braiding Jaycee's hair for the first time in 18 years,' " Tina Dugard said.
The reunification of Terry Probyn with her daughter – and her interactions, for the first time, with Jaycee's two daughters, 11 and 15 – played out in private as the chilling tale of Jaycee's alleged abductor, Phillip Craig Garrido, seized headlines worldwide.
In an exclusive interview with the Orange County Register, Tina Dugard spoke for the first time publicly about how the reunified family is doing. She spent five days with Probyn, Jaycee and the two girls.
"There's a sense of comfort and optimism, a sense of happiness. … Jaycee and her girls are happy," said Tina Dugard, who was 13 when Jaycee was born and very close to her.
Terry Probyn lived with her sister for 10 years before recently moving out.
"People probably want to think that it's been this horrible, scary thing for all of us," Tina Dugard said of the past several days as the family sought to reconnect in cloistered rooms, with law enforcement officials and counselors hovering – and media from around the world trying to interview them.
"(But) the horrible, scary thing happened 18 years ago, and continued to happen for the last 18 years. The darkness and despair (has lifted.)"

Hasanni Campbell Case :Foster Father Louis Ross released from jail calls police investigation "irrelevant"
OAKLAND — Louis Ross, foster father of Hasanni Campbell, described jail as "hell" and refused to answer questions about the police investigation into the boy's disappearance after he was released from jail tonight.
Ross was released from Santa Rita Jail in Dublin at 6:30 p.m. wearing black sweatpants, a white hat and white long-sleeve shirt. He was unshaven and visibly angry. Asked what it was like in jail, he said: "One word: hell."
He said he and fiancee Jennifer Campbell, the boy's foster mother and aunt, would continue looking for the boy, who Ross reported missing Aug. 10.
"As long as I have got breath in my body, we will search for Hasanni," he said.

Jaycee Dugard case : Larry King Live transcript 08/31/09 interview Katherine Callaway Aug 31
And joining us now from Sacramento is Scott Kernan. Scott is undersecretary of operations, California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
The obvious, Scott, why was Philip Garrido paroled?
SCOTT KERNAN, CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS & REHABILITATION: Well, he had completed his sentence both with the Feds for the kidnapping charge. He was transferred to the Nevada Department of Corrections for the rape charge. He was released from that sentence and on our Interstate compact agreement, which is typical, he was transferred to California for his parole supervision.
KING: Was he, therefore, a good prisoner?
KERNAN: I don't know about his history while in the Feds or with Nevada. But I know while he was on parole, there was no history of violations. He was compliant with his terms of parole.
KING: In retrospect, obviously, he shouldn't have been paroled.
But are you saying there's no way he could not have -- that he had to be paroled?
KERNAN: I believe it was consistent with the law in Nevada and certainly our parole supervision. Nevada has lifetime parole for sex offenders. We do not. And so he would be on lifetime parole with the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
KING: Would you change the law in any way based on this?
KERNAN: You know, this is obviously a very serious crime that was committed. I -- I'd leave that up to the lawmakers and the governor.
KING: What did the parole supervas -- supervision entail?
KERNAN: Regular visits to both his house and then the offender would have to report to the parole office, anti-narcotic testing and compliance with some parole programs.
KING: People went to his house and didn't find anything, based on all of the stuff we have seen?
KERNAN: You know, Larry, every report right now suggests that this was so well concealed that anybody just would not have been able to see it. I know that the parole agent involved in this case -- and the details are still being kept, just so that we don't in any way jeopardize the prosecution of this case. He acted with real due diligence.
I'm very proud of my parole officer in this case. The fact of the matter is the neighbors for 18 years didn't see it. Neighbors that actually had been in the backyard hadn't seen it. Of so, you know, it was significantly concealed.
KING: Kate, do you have any question, Katie, you want to ask Scott?
HALL: When Phillip was paroled, I made an appointment with --
KING: Right there.
HALL: I made an appointment with this parole officer at the time, and he told me -- he said that, what do you want me to tell you, that he's well? He's not. He's a sick puppy. We're sure he's going to do this again, but we're pretty sure it's not directed at you.
KERNAN: Well, there is no doubt that this monster had some significant mental health issues. And, you know, that's why he was on parole supervision for life.
KING: Carl, anything you want to ask Scott?
PROBYN: Yes, I heard he was back in prison in 1999 and served some more time. Is that true or not?
KERNAN: I believe that, no, not in '99. When he came to our parole supervision, he had no revocations. He was not returned to California prison at all.
KING: Based on all we have learned, Scott, what changes would you recommend in the system?
KERNAN: Well, I can tell you right now, Larry, that, we are doing everything we can to review the case and the circumstances, and see what policy changes might be necessary. The parole agent in this case did perform his duties appropriately. But we will, of course, take best lessons from this, and see if there's some policy changes that might be necessary.
But our focus right now is in the full prosecution -- with the other jurisdictions, to prosecute this parolee to the fullest extent to the law and make sure he doesn't see the light of day again.
KING: Thank you, Scott Kernan, undersecretary of operations, California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
Two men who did business with Garrido, and the girls, tell us first-hand what they're like. Next.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

Jennifer Campbell, who is six months pregnant, and her fiance, Louis Ross, were arrested Friday. Alameda County Assistant District Attorney Tom Rogers said no charges will be filed against Campbell, 30, who was released from Santa Rita Jail in Dublin. "There is insufficient evidence at this time, and the investigation is continuing," Rogers said.
Campbell, just hours out of jail, attended a vigil Monday at College Avenue Presbyterian Church across the street from Shuz of Rockridge, where the boy was reported missing Aug. 10. "I'm not doing well," she said in an interview after the vigil. "I'm inspired by the people who are here. I'm inspired by God. When I was incarcerated, my faith was stronger than ever."

Jaycee Dugard case : How Katherine Callaway felt she when heard the news
His name sent a flurry of emotion running through her mind.
"I screamed," she told CNN's Larry King on Monday night. "I started screaming 'Oh my god, Oh my god, it's him.' "
She has thought about him every day since November 22, 1976 when he asked her for a ride at a supermarket in California, before handcuffing her, binding her and taking her to a mini-warehouse in Reno, Nevada, where he raped her.
Garrido was convicted for kidnapping and raping Hall, but was released after serving just over 10 years of a 50-year sentence. He was labeled a sex offender and put on lifetime parole.
